Leash Pals
You can help children stay safer around dogs. Why is that important?
-
The CDC estimates that half of all children 12 years or under have been bitten by a dog.
-
Most bites occur as a result of teasing or unintentional provocation such as approaching a dog while it's eating or sleeping.
-
Severe injuries from a dog bite are highest for kids age 5 to 9 years.
-
Most dog bite incidents are preventable!
Just one hour of dog safety training can reduce attacks by 80%
You can help! Become a Leash Pals volunteer and help us spread the dog safety knowledge. Leash Pal presentations usually include you and your certified pet and 1-2 other certified teams. Having multiple certified teams on hand provides ample opportunities for the children to practice their newly learned dog greeting skills.
Becoming a Leash Pals volunteer is easy. Simply click here to let us know you would like to be a Leash Pals volunteer. Our Program Director will contact you to schedule a training session. The training session is approximately 60 minutes long. So what are you waiting for? The kids need you!
